Travel to Cambridge

By car: The College is only a few minutes away from the M11 motorway, which links London, the Midlands and the North. Car parking is limited in Cambridge, and there is no car parking available at King’s itself. The nearest public car park is the Grand Arcade Car Park on Corn Exchange Street, CB2 3QJ. This is just a few minutes’ walk from King’s (see map). You can find a complete list of car parks on the Cambridge Council website.

By train: Cambridge has two railway stations. We recommend that you travel to Cambridge and not Cambridge North. Cambridge railway station is well connected to most central stations in the UK. There are frequent trains from King’s Cross and Liverpool Street stations. Avoid the slow train that stops at all the stations between London and Cambridge, as its almost always quicker to wait for the next one! The station is around a 30 minute walk from King’s. If you do not want to walk, there is a taxi rank outside the station, or you could take the buses Citi1 or Citi3 (the bus station in Drummer Street is closest to King’s).

By air: London Stansted is the nearest airport, situated 25 miles south of Cambridge. It is 45 minutes away by bus or 30 minutes by train. Stansted’s train station is directly below the terminal building. You can either take the train for Birmingham New Street, which is a direct train to Cambridge and takes just over 30 minutes (this service is usually hourly), or get a train to Bishops Stortford and change there to get a train to Cambridge. This will take about 50 minutes.

London Heathrow Airport and London Gatwick Airport are slightly further away, but both are easily accessible via London. Travelling from Heathrow Airport, take the Underground to King’s Cross station (Piccadilly Line, approx. 1 hour) and from here you take a direct train to Cambridge (approx. 50 mins). From London Gatwick Airport, there is a frequent train to London, Victoria Station. From here you need to take the Underground (Victoria Line) to King’s Cross and get a direct train from there to Cambridge.
